WheelzUp Adventures

The Problem

WheelzUp Adventures, based in Cumberland, Maryland, struggled to market their “Big Deal Ride” package to families and casual cyclists. While the 25-mile downhill ride along the Great Allegheny Passage was popular among local cyclists, many were unaware of the hassle-free package that included bikes, helmets, transportation, and access to scenic attractions like the Big Savage Tunnel and Vista. WheelzUp needed to communicate the ride’s ease and value while highlighting its appeal as a memorable family outing.

The Solution

WheelzUp partnered with InnerAction Media to create a visually engaging video that showcased the package’s convenience and family-friendly nature. The video highlighted key attractions and the seamless biking experience, effectively positioning WheelzUp as the go-to provider for an accessible and exciting outdoor adventure.

The Process

Pre-Production
Production
Post Production
The pre-production phase for the “Big Deal Ride” promotional video was a collaborative process involving key stakeholders like Mandela Echefu, WheelzUp’s owner, and Ashli Workman, Allegany County Tourism Director. Discussions clarified the package’s features and identified must-highlight attractions such as the Big Savage Tunnel and Eastern Continental Divide.

Our team secured filming permits, coordinated with local authorities, and planned logistics for outdoor locations. Special attention was given to filming in the Big Savage Tunnel, requiring expert advice from park rangers for safety and equipment needs. This detailed planning ensured a seamless filming process, laying the foundation for a successful production.

The shoot started at Wheelz UP at Canal Place in Cumberland Maryland where we captured all of the at-store footage and loading up the van. Following that, we headed to Deal Pennsylvania as we decided to capture the footage in the same order as the Big Deal Ride. Bringing our production vehicle onto the trail, we were able to stop at all of the major attractions along the Big Deal Ride and capture a variety of perspectives. Some included sweeping FPV drone shots, while others involved shooting from above a tunnel or hard mounting our cameras to the bicycles. The final stop was at a local restaurant to demonstrate that there's plenty more to do in Cumberland when you're done with the ride.
In the edit for this piece, many elements were utilized to create an engaging minute and a half video. This included sound effects & sound design, motion graphics, 3d camera tracking, music, voice over, and vibrant color grading just to mention on top of the quick paced cuts to the footage. The main goal was to illustrate that this biking package is fun and accessible to a broad audience and the edit is what enhances the immersion and inviting nature of the content. The editing is what gives the footage its greatest, most presentable, format to the viewer achieving clarity in the communication and intended perception.

The Impact

The impactful promotional video created for WheelzUp Adventures successfully elevated their visibility and appeal, showcasing the “Big Deal Ride” as a fun, hassle-free experience for families and casual cyclists. The collaborative production process, from securing permits to capturing dynamic footage along the Great Allegheny Passage, resulted in a visually stunning video that highlighted key attractions and the seamless logistics of the package. Post-production elements, including vibrant color grading, motion graphics, and immersive sound design, brought the experience to life, helping WheelzUp effectively communicate the value and accessibility of their offering to a broader audience, solidifying their position as a go-to outdoor adventure provider.
